Global crude steel production fell 3.0% year-on-year in August

On September 22, the World Steel Association (WSA) released global crude steel production data for August 2022. In August, the crude steel output of 64 countries and regions according to the World Steel Association was 150.6 million tons, down 3.0% year-on-year.
In August, the output of crude steel in Africa was 1.3 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.5%; the crude steel output in Asia and Oceania was 112.6 million tons, down 0.2% year-on-year; the EU (27 countries) crude steel output was 9.7 million tons, down 13.3% year-on-year; Europe Crude steel production in other countries was 3.6 million tons, down 18.6% year-on-year; crude steel production in the Middle East was 3.2 million tons, up 34.2% year-on-year; North American crude steel production was 9.6 million tons, down 5.4% year-on-year; Russia and other CIS countries, the United States and Ukraine crude steel production The output was 6.9 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 22.4%; the crude steel output in South America was 3.6 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 10.1%.
From the perspective of the top 10 steel producing countries, in August, my country’s crude steel output was 83.9 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 0.5%; India’s crude steel output was 10.2 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 1.2%; Japan’s crude steel output was 7.3 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 7.4% ; U.S. crude steel output is 7 million tons, down 7.1% year-on-year; South Korea’s crude steel output is estimated to be 6.1 million tons, down 0.4% year-on-year; Russia’s crude steel output is expected to be 5.9 million tons, down 5.5% year-on-year; Germany’s crude steel output is 290 tons 10,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 2.3%; Turkey’s crude steel output was 2.8 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 21.0%; Brazil’s crude steel output was 2.8 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 11.3%; Iran’s crude steel output was 2.1 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 64.7%.
